The story of our founder, Mat
Hi, I’m Mat the founder! Today, I’m going to tell you my short little story how I started and how I got where I currenrly am.
1. Roblox
Computers have always been a passion for me, since 5 I knew how to do things that even my parent’s didn’t knew how. I was wasting hours every day on the Internet, always trying to learn something new.
I discovered Roblox in 2013, when I also created my first account. I don’t remember too much since then, but I know that I was so fascinated about the platform that I started to play almost all the day. Roblox shortly started to become my favorite virtual-place and also currently is.
2. My YouTube Channel
Not too much happend in 2013, that’s why the old paragraph was super short.
In 2014, I accidentally created my YouTube Channel, named xMateoRO. (The name makes no sense and it’s super cringe that’s why I changed it in 2021.) For a few weeks, I haven’t realised what I’ve done, but later I somehow managed to get on my YouTube profile. It didn’t took me much to understand where I am and what I can do, so I shortly started to record Roblox videos for my brand new YouTube channel. Of course, all of them are privated now due to a simple reason: ,,cringe”. My channel was failing because I didn’t knew how to properly manage one, but I was fine with my 2 likes and 5 views.
3. Me & Development
First, I made mobile apps. One of my best projects were:
- A Password Saver app. It was actually really bad, but as soon as I uploaded it to the Google Play Store, it got 5k downloads and really good reviews.
- To-Do List app. Super basic, nothing special, it’s just like other similar apps. It got super fast 7k downloads on the Google Play Store.
- Messager App. Using Telegram servers. (because I was to poor to buy my own) This got 4k downloads but when people realised that I was using Telegram’s servers, the app started to go downhill.
- Coins Clicker. It was a 2D clicking game that had the same concept of what we call today, Coin Simulator! This app got easy 12k downloads on the Google Play Store and this was one of my biggest success.
I was really trash at programming, so of course all of my apps (except Coins Clicker) were made out of YouTube Tutorials. I started to code myself Coins Clicker, but I got stuck at making the Coins Shop so I asked for some help on a random code helping website and managed to do it.
I don’t remember too much about my apps because everything was a long time ago, hehe.
All of my apps shutted down on the 9th April 2016 because I wanted to try something new. And that is… Roblox Development.
4. Roblox Development
I always wanted to create my own games on this platform and now it was my chance. I watched some YouTube tutorials about the basics of Roblox Studio and really quick got into it.
My first game was some cheap clone of a game like GTA:V made out of free models in Roblox. I did failed, as expected, but I continued to make updates for it until I got nowhere. (The game was reuploaded on @GreatGamesRBX’s Roblox account, if you want to check it out.) At the end of 2017 the game shutted down with no plans for it to come back.
After that, I created Roblox Line Runner. It was just a free Roblox Studio template with some free improvements to it. I got a little more experience with Studio so the updates for this game were actually better. Again, nothing to say here too much… the game was boring and that’s it.
On the 4th January 2018, I created the original Coin Simulator inspired by my old app called Coins Clicker, the game was way more basic (and bad) back then so no one was playing it, except my friends which really enjoyed it back then. At the end of 2018, I don’t know how, the game got spammed with a lot of dislikes so I privated it. I also decided to create a new account (current one) for no actual reason.
On my new account I made some random FNaF Roleplay games, which I dont want to talk about. Later, all of them of course, failed.
At the start of 2020 I saw a simulator kit in my recommendations on YouTube called ,,Coin Simulator Kit”. I got so happy after I saw that because I always wanted to bring back Coin Simulator, but this time… in a upgraded way. A proffesional developer would probably never use a kit to start an actual serious Roblox game, but I was so stupid back then so that was ok for me. The game was originally called ,,Coin Simulator 2", but it got shortly renamed to ,,Coin Simulator”. I learned scripting LUA and I learned how to make real updates to the game. I added new features and a lot of exciting stuff and at the start of 2021, we started to have our own first daily players. This is what gave me motivation to still work on the game today.
5. Great Games //
A few of you know that Great Games was actually made back in 2016, but never said a public word about it. In 2021 I decided to officially found Great Games, with the idea that we can do more and more. Developing 1 game is fun, but how about developing more? We have a lot of cool projects that we’ll love to share with you. Coin Simulator was shortly claimed by Great Games and we got to the current times.
I know my story is a bit weird and unexpected but here’s the reality that I never said a word about.
